Hello Everyone!

This past weekend was pretty harsh for scheduling, but I must thank my employer for understanding the importance I placed in getting Morgane safely to her next host in Fairbanks and the need for one last great roadtrip with her. He allowed me to take Friday off work and I say Thank you Jerry!!!

Morgane's next host is a famous dog musher in Fairbanks Alaska, about 1200 kms from Tagish!!!  (And I thought the previous roadtrips were long hauls!) There are no Greyhound buses that travel past Whitehorse and no tour buses or direct air flights this time of year. Rather than seeing Morgane hitchhike across the frozen tundra, I decided to drive her there myself. This plan later proved difficult when I was offered work on that Sunday allowing only a quick tear up the highway and back. Luckily having Friday off work allowed a more leisurely (?) drive and the opportunity to stop in at North Pole Alaska and visit Santa Claus!

Earlier this week Morgane borrowed my car and headed into the Alaskan panhandle for a day of sightseeing in Skagway Alaska. Her first visit to Alaska!

Friday we packed up the car for the long haul to Fairbanks. We decided to run light and leave the tent and stove behind, choosing to sleep in the car and eat at restaurants to save time.

After a wonderful breakfast at Lesli's home in Tagish (a great neighbour and community hall worker), we hopped in the car and Morgane said one last goodbye to Tyson and her home for the past month. Tyson was dropped off at Charles and Kathy's home (more great neighbours) and we turned our attention to the highway.

It may be -26ºC outside, but Morgane drives in sandals!

With Morgane at the wheel for the whole trip up to Fairbanks, we scorched the highway north to Alaska!

We reach Alaska in the dark and spent the night in a riverside pull out.

The next morning we fly through Tok Alaska and finally.....North Pole Alaska!

A town devoted to Christmas spirit all year round

Unfortunately Santa is away until mid May, but Morgane takes charge!

With Morgane safely at her next destination, I get a chance at the wheel and drive 12 hours straight back arriving in Whitehorse at 3 am.

It was the best roadtrip and the saddest, saying goodbye to Morgane as she continues to boogie down the highway and explore more of Canada!

All is not so sad as we plan a possible 2013 reunion in France roadtripping across that great country! Watch out Enora and Arabelle, we will be passing through!!!!
