Welcome Aurore (Dawn) from France! She arrived the beginning of July for a whole month of adventure.
Her first roadtrips were to the remote communities of
Ross River and Faro.
Here she checks out a 65-ton truck for hauling ore
at the abandoned mine.
Her second roadtrip explored the town of Carcross and area.
Including the Bennett Lake, Carcross Desert
and Emerald Lake (below).
Off again on the road, this time an overnight roadtrip to
Liard River BC.
We stopped at the south end of the Canol Highway to learn of
its role in the building of the Alaska Highway in 1942.
Remains of hundreds of vehicles left by the US Army
after completion of the Canol Road.
Totem poles at the interpretive center in Teslin.
The Watson Lake Sign Forest contains more than 71,000 signs,
many are stolen from the side of the highway.
Of course there were bears,
I think Aurore counted more than 37 during her visit.
Aurore practices a little Bison whispering.
Arriving after midnight, we had the whole
Liard Hot Springs to ourselves.
It may have been a very warm night, but the extremely hot water
still created a lot of stea m.
A good view of the moon through the trees.
Camping in the bear-proof van at Liard.
The next morning we toured Muncho Lake BC
before returning for a daytime swim.
Liard Hot Springs with its exceptionally clear water.
