Géraldine, Déborah and Laurent from France arrive for a week's stay to discover the Yukon, but got to see a piece of Alaska too.
While I was at work the first day of their stay, they started touring Yukon.
They checked out Carcross, Emerald Lake, Spirit Lake
and the Carcross Desert above.
The next day we all headed out to Skagway.
A group photo at Bove Island.
Géraldine, me, Déborah and Laurent.
In the high elevations of the White Pass,
the rocky "moonscape" of the barren surroundings.
At last, crossing the Alaska border.
Testing the waters at the Lower Reid Falls,
close to the Gold Rush cemetery.
Named after the town hero who shot notorious Soap Smith.
The infamous Red Onion Saloon.
Upstairs was one of 70 brothels located in Skagway during the Gold Rush.
A tour of the brothel with the "Madam".
A side street view of Skagway showing it's unique
Russian influenced architecture.
Before The Days of ’98 show they always have mock gambling,
giving everyone $1000 in Soap bucks to start.
The Days of ’98 show tells the story of Soap Smith,
the con man of Gold Rush era Skagway.
An unsuspecting audience member.
Géraldine wih "Soapy Smith."
Déborah with Soapy.
That night we do a long drive through the dark to reach Atlin BC
on the other side of Tagish
That night we soak in the Atlin Warms Srings
watching a small Northern Lights display.
Atlin Warm Springs by the daylight.
Atlin BC!
A small, almost ghost town with it's own gold rush history.
Picking up the groceries Atlin style.
Heading back home to Tagish,
we stop at the Tagish Stores to view the two story outhouse!
A stop at Jake’s Corner to see the polar bear.
Then a last visit to Whitehorse.
The SS Klondike
And no visit would be complete without taking in the Frantic Follies.
After the show with Nicole and Grant
